Partnering for Success — Externs & CQ Partners

Team recruiting audiology externs to build a hearing healthcare talent pipeline

Did you know CQ Partners can assist with hiring fourth-year externs?

Externships are a great way for practices to build a long-term talent pipeline, while also giving back by facilitating an important learning experience for students.

Benefits of hiring an extern for your practice include:

  1. Evaluate performance & fit — As an employer, you’ll have an opportunity to gauge the extern’s skills, attributes, and overall fit before considering a full-time job offer.

  2. Infuse fresh knowledge & perspectives — Students can bring new techniques, knowledge, and perspectives from the classroom to the clinics can help you grow in the audiology industry.

  3. Increase brand awareness & build long-term talent pipelines — By providing a great externship experience for a student, your clinic can increase brand awareness with the student and new graduate population, as well as the university. As we know, hiring full-time providers can be challenging and expensive; by hiring externs, practices can build up the pipeline of potential full-time providers for the future.

At CQ Partners, we grow hearing healthcare practices and develop providers as business leaders. We support every aspect of your practice and staff so you can continue to connect patients with life-changing hearing healthcare. CQ’s People & Culture team is solely dedicated to helping you build, grow, and retain the best team possible. We also partner with universities to make externships simpler and more beneficial for our practices.

Increasing Challenges with Hiring Providers

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the national employment rate of audiologists is expected to grow much faster than average through the year 2028. In fact, the BLS predicts that an additional 2,200 audiologists will be needed to fill the demand between now and 2028. That’s a 16% increase in job openings.

Each year, university audiology programs seem to have less students. We predict that hiring providers will become increasingly challenging, which makes externship programs more important than ever. Hiring externs is not only beneficial to the students, but also a great way for practices to build their long-term pipeline for future provider hiring needs.
