Employee Spotlight Q&A:
1. What is your role at CQ Partners?
I am a Talent Acquisition Partner. That means that I help our members fill any roles from audiologists to front office to hearing instrument specialists. Any opening they have, I help them fill.
2. Tell us a little about your background!
This is a fun one. I’ve been in recruiting for five years now, but before recruiting I worked as an aquatics coordinator for the YMCA. Right out of school, I went to Shippensburg University and got my bachelor’s degree in business management with a human resources concentration. After that, I started my career at the YMCA and worked at a few different facilities. That venture eventually came to an end and I got my start in recruiting. Prior to recruiting in the audiology industry, I’ve recruited in insurance and dental.
3. What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part is helping members get their positions filled, especially a role that has been hard to fill. On the other hand, I love being able to place a candidate in a great role. Every so often, we get a candidate that has been struggling to find a job. We really believe in them and want to help them, so their excitement when they receive an offer is very fulfilling. In this world right now, it can be such a struggle to find a job, so making sure they are in a position they feel good about is important to me. It wasn’t too long ago that I was in the position of looking for a job, so I understand just how difficult that can be.
4. What are some of the values that drive your work?
Challenge and determination are two big values for me, especially when it comes to those harder to fill roles. Finding the right candidate and making sure you’re filling it in a timely manner really depends on determination and the love of being challenged. Growth is also something I value, which is reflected by CQ Partners. I feel like the leadership team here values us and where we want to go. They are willing to help us get to where we want to be. The passion for growth drives me to stay determined and keep challenging myself. Another value that speaks to me is kindness. Everybody at CQ has shown that from day one. It’s always been something I’ve tried to show to everyone, so it’s great to be with a company that shows kindness back.
5. Tell us about a memorable experience or opportunity you’ve had while working for CQ Partners.
There are two experiences that stick out to me after being here for a little over a year. One of these was my first operations team meeting. It was such a great environment to be in. We went axe throwing and really felt like a big team. The other truly memorable experience was winning Employee of the Quarter. I had only been with the company for a year, and it just showed me that my work isn’t going unseen. It makes me excited for more opportunities in the future.
6. How do you stay motivated in and out of work?
In work, it’s easy. My recruiting team helps me, and we are good at motivating one another. The entire operations team is really supportive. I actually put post-it notes around for our recruiting team as a fun way to keep each other motivated. Outside of work, my son keeps me motivated. I just want to do the best for him. My husband and I are always striving to give him everything we hope to give him. An action that sometimes helps my motivation is taking a walk all by myself. It helps reset my mind.
7. What’s something you love to do outside of work?
Spending time with my son and my husband is super important to me, and my great parents come to visit all the time. So, I’m usually spending time with my family watching my son learn new things, which is super exciting at this age. He’s 2!
